About the event
In this workshop you will learn to shape your own clay and find the best varieties of plants to make impressions. Feel free to bring your favorite plants from your garden as we roll them into a serving tray. Some examples of plants that make good impressions are flat leaves and flowers with up to 2 rows of petals. Flowers such as peonies and dhalias do not press well because they are fleshy. You can make an oval or square tray, with dimensions roughly of 6" x 9" (with some wiggle room). After making your tray, I will fire them twice and then paint them with underglaze as well as a clear coat of satin overglaze. Each tray will be completely food and dishwasher safe. The firing process can take up to a month, and I will send out an email when the pieces are finished.
Please remember to wear clothes that can get dirty or bring an apron for yourself. The clay is a bit dusty when dried on apparel, but completely non toxic and non staining. Dress appropriately for warmer or cooler weather, as we will try to stay outdoors(In the shade) unless it rains.
