ARTIST STATEMENT
Ceramics has always been the middle ground for painting and sculpture in my work.
The textures and three dimensional form found in sculpture combined with the vibrancy of color seen in the glazes befriend each other in ceramics. My pieces involve elements of pressing stamps and foliage or colorful painted work. Foraged florals and organic colors heavily influence my work to create a simple and natural theme.
The underlying philosophy of my work is that beauty doesn't have to be something exotic or untouched in a display case. Beauty is in simple everyday moments that move you-
like pouring a cup of coffee in your favorite mug.
